Privacy Policy
Effective November 4, 2026. Last updated November 4, 2026.
Sappari works on your photos without taking them anywhere. It has no account, collects no personal data, and never uploads your photos or anything in them. This page explains the little that does leave your iPhone.
Who we are
Sappari is made by Duy Bui, an individual developer based in Vietnam ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Sappari app for iPhone and iPad and the website https://sappari.photos. For any question about privacy, write to team@sappari.photos.
Your photos
- Sappari asks for access to your photo library so it can find photos and videos you may want to clear. You choose full or limited access, and you can change it at any time in Settings.
- All analysis happens on your device, using Apple's frameworks: comparing how alike photos are, scoring sharpness, and reading text in screenshots. Sappari scans the thumbnails stored on your iPhone and does not download your iCloud originals to analyse them.
- Your photos, videos and their contents (faces, places, text, metadata) are never sent to us or to anyone else.
- To make later scans fast, Sappari keeps a small index on your device, such as photo identifiers, file sizes and similarity data. It stays on the device and is removed when you delete the app.
- Sappari never deletes anything without your review. Deletions go through the iOS confirmation prompt and then to Recently Deleted, where you can recover them for 30 days.
What we collect
No personal data. Sappari has no sign-up and never asks for your name, email address, phone number, contacts or location.
Anonymous product analytics. To learn which features help and to fix bugs, the app may send anonymous usage events and crash reports. They contain counts and sizes (for example, how many photos a scan found or how much space a cleanup freed), which features were used, and technical details about a crash, sent to PostHog in the EU with IP addresses anonymized. They contain no photos, no photo contents, no file names, places or text from your photos, and no identifier linked to you as a person. Events carry a random app identifier created on your device; the same random identifier is used for purchases (below) so we can count how many people upgrade. If you answer the optional "How did you find Sappari?" question, that answer is sent too. We use all of this only in aggregate.
Purchases
Purchases of Sappari Pro are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, your Apple ID or your name. To unlock Pro, the app passes an anonymous app user ID and the App Store purchase receipt to RevenueCat, which checks the purchase and tells the app whether Pro is active.
What we never do
- Track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- Show ads, or share data with advertisers or data brokers.
- Sell or rent any data.
- Use your photos to train any model.
Service providers
These companies process data on our behalf, only for the purposes described here:
- PostHog (EU cloud, data stored in the European Union, IP addresses anonymized): anonymous product analytics and crash reports for the app, and visit analytics for this website.
- RevenueCat, Inc. (United States): checking App Store purchases. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
- Apple: App Store payments and distribution, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting and protecting this website.
Some of these providers operate outside your country. Where data leaves the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, it is covered by the provider's standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
This website
https://sappari.photos uses PostHog analytics (EU cloud) to count visits and see which pages and links help people. It records the pages you view, clicks on buttons and links, the site that sent you and any campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source), your browser and device type, approximate country, and errors in the page. IP addresses are anonymized and not stored. No ads, no tracking across other websites, and nothing is sold.
To do this the site stores a random identifier in a first-party cookie and in your browser's local storage, plus one cookie, sp_src, that remembers which link or site first brought you here and the most recent one (kept for 180 days). Analytics requests go through our own domain. Our host Cloudflare also processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and stop abuse. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.
How long we keep data
Anonymous analytics are kept only as long as they help us improve Sappari. Emails are kept as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up, then deleted. The on-device index is removed with the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal data about you. Because the app's analytics are not linked to you, we usually cannot find records that belong to a particular person, but write to team@sappari.photos and we will help with any request. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Sappari is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update it on this page and change the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your device, we will explain it here before it takes effect.
